Context:  The Center for Green Market Activation™ (GMA) is a US-based, globally-focused nonprofit that was launched in Spring of 2024. Through innovative book-and-claim systems, new and creative procurement approaches, and demand aggregating buyers’ alliances, GMA catalyzes and scales the uptake of low- and zero-carbon goods and services in the hardest-to-abate sectors. GMA’s organizational design combines shared expertise and infrastructure with sector-specific programs. By consolidating a range of value chain mitigation initiatives under a single non-profit umbrella, we will help companies ramp up their Scope 3 mitigation quickly, starting in one sector and easily moving into another.   GMA seeks employees committed to addressing the climate crisis, who are highly entrepreneurial, with strong people skills, and an ability to learn new, technical subject matter and speak to it with authority.   Trucking Program Intern  Cement and Concrete Program Intern  Chemicals Program Intern  AIM Platform (Standard and Guidance) Intern  Communications Team Intern  After successful internship completion this role could become a full-time staff position for the right candidate.   Location:  Interns will be fully remote, however are required to be in one of the following US States – CA, CO, DC, GA, MA, MD, MN, NJ, NY, TX, WA.  You must have the right to work in the United States.   Hours and Salary:  For Winter/Spring Interns, GMA anticipates hiring each position to start in late January 2025 for 10 - 20 hours per week, with the internship running up to 6 months. We are flexible on the hour per week and internship duration for the right candidate.   For Summer Interns that are not continuous with the Winter/Spring program, GMA anticipates hiring each position to start in late May/early June 2025 for 20 - 40 hours per week, with the internship running up to 4 months. 

Salary: $25/hour.

TRUCKING PROGRAM INTERN 

In 2023 GMA launched GMA Trucking, a buyers’ alliance under the GMA umbrella. GMA Trucking aims to accelerate the path to a decarbonized trucking sector by driving investment in and adoption of zero emission (ZE) heavy duty vehicles (HDVs). GMA Trucking pools demand and funding from its members (climate leading companies that have set ambitious sustainability targets), and works with trucking carriers, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), and charging/fueling infrastructure providers to develop projects that get battery electric vehicle (BEV) and fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) trucks on the road. CEMENT AND CONCRETE PROGRAM INTERN 

GMA’s cement and concrete initiative is a partnership with RMI to help companies decarbonize their emissions associated with cement and concrete.  The initiative is comprised of a two-pronged approach: designing a standardized book-and-claim system and operationalizing it through demand aggregation and collective procurement. The book-and-claim system will enable companies to address value chain emissions by purchasing environmental attribute certificates (EACs) from low-carbon producers, helping cover the green premium for sustainable products and support the growth of low-carbon product markets. CHEMICALS INTERN 

GMA Chemicals is our latest sectoral initiative, dedicated to establishing credible and effective decarbonization strategies for the diverse and complex chemicals industry. At this early stage, the initiative is focused on establishing a fact base through primary and secondary research and engaging with technical experts and prospective buyer groups through working groups. Our goal is to align on key design principles for creating a robust chain of custody system tailored to these two commodities. AIM PLATFORM (STANDARDS AND GUIDANCE) INTERN 

GMA, along with Gold Standard and the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (C2ES), organizes the Advanced and Indirect Mitigation (AIM) Platform. The AIM Platform is writing a Standard and Guidance to develop a credible approach to accounting, reporting, and claiming the results of value chain-aligned mitigation activity (including but not limited to environmental attribute certificates/commodity certificates for decarbonized products/ services) that do not currently show up in a GHG Protocol-aligned scope 3 inventory. COMMUNICATIONS INTERN 

The Communications Intern will work directly with the Comms Manager and with team members across the organization’s programs.
