Ingrid is a Managing Director at GMA. She has over 20 years of experience as an executive leader, mediator, and expert on the ocean and climate change. Her expertise lies in multi-stakeholder mediation and collaborative process design, with a focus on strategies that harness the power of markets to help society achieve climate and sustainability goals. At GMA, Ingrid leads new program development and provides executive leadership for the Zero Emission Maritime Buyers Alliance (ZEMBA). Prior to GMA, she was co-founder and CEO of ZEMBA until transitioning the program to GMA in 2026. Now totaling 50+ members, ZEMBA pools corporate demand to accelerate deployment of zero-emission maritime shipping. She was Senior Director at the Aspen Institute Energy and Environment Program for eight years, where she led work in ocean conservation, plastics, fisheries, low-carbon fuels, and maritime transport policy and market innovation. Previously, Ingrid was at Meridian Institute for twelve years, leading collaborations related to ecosystem management, sustainable seafood markets, coastal resilience, marine spatial planning, and federal ocean and climate policy. Her work has spanned geographic scopes from global to indigenous and watershed-level. Ingrid's work with ZEMBA has been featured in the BBC, Reuters, Washington Post, Financial Times, GreenBiz, and in many other global and trade media, and she is a frequent speaker at conferences and events. She gained a Master of Environmental Management from Duke University before completing a post-graduate John A. Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship in 2007, and has a Bachelor of Science from the University of New Hampshire. She is fluent in English and Spanish, and can muddle through some German. She is based in the Washington, DC area.
