About
The Center for Green Market Activation (GMA) – a US-based, globally focused nonprofit – fills a previously unmet need within the climate solutions ecosystem for a cross-sector, market-based approach to decarbonizing hard-to-abate value chain emissions. By leveraging book and claim along with demand-aggregating buyers’ alliances, GMA helps companies ramp up Scope 3 mitigation quickly while channeling new funding to accelerate commercial scale production of critical climate technologies.
How We Got Our Start
GMA officially launched in June 2024, with a focus on continuing and expanding the pioneering approaches of book and claim systems and buyers alliances that our team initiated under a predecessor organization. That previous work included spearheading the launch of the Sustainable Aviation Buyers Alliance (SABA), in partnership with RMI and Environmental Defense Fund, and providing technical support to the Zero Emission Maritime Buyers Alliance (ZEMBA) in its inaugural tender. GMA continues to support SABA and ZEMBA, while also kicking off new book and claim systems and buyers alliances for trucking, cement & concrete, and chemicals. Additional details about our latest programs, as well as new programs yet to be added, will be announced soon!
Mission
The Center for Green Market Activation (GMA) develops standardized approaches that enable companies to pool demand for green goods and services and channel funding to critical climate technologies.
